FOI request (FOI-101359056)
Cost of free schools opened not as a result of basic need
Requested Fri 04 January 2019
Responded Tue 15 January 2019Please could you answer the below under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
My questions relate to this story: https://schoolsweek.co.uk/no-council-cash-for-new-free-schools-in-manchester/
I understand that from 2016-17, councils have had to pay for free schools from when they open, even if they are not established as a result of a “basic need” identified by local officials.
Please answer:
2. How much money the council provided to each school (including both the free schools opened as a result of basic need and not opened as a result of basic need).3. Please indicate if the council failed to fully fund any of the schools or refused to fund any of the free schools, and by how much they were not funded. It would be easiest for me if this was presented as an excel spreadsheet, with academic year, and then the names of free schools, their status as opened as the result of basic need or not, and whether the school was fully funded or not, clearly displayed.
