Local sporty youngsters visit Olympic arena
A group of young people from Hastings visited the Copper Box Olympic arena thanks to Hastings Borough Council's StreetGames project.
Cllr Dawn Poole, lead member for regeneration and culture said:
"20 young sports men and women attended the StreetGames London and South East Multisport festival last week and were able to take part in over 20 sporting activities.
"StreetGames offers local young people the opportunity to get involved in sports so an opportunity like this for youngsters to get involved and meet other young people from other projects and try out different activities is great."

Gilded Hand - International Buskers Fair
The Stade Saturdays programme brings The Gilded Hand - International Buskers Fair to Hastings on Saturday, 15 August.
Cllr Dawn Poole, lead member for regeneration commented:
"Dating back to the medieval period the Gilded Hand allowed impromptu performances and fairs to take place on common land without the fear of arrest. In modern times BB King, Rod Stewart and Tracy Chapman to name but a few, all began their careers as buskers.
"This weekend Stade Saturdays brings a variety of musical buskers to perform at the Stade Open Space, Hastings from 1pm through to 6.30pm.
"There's a fantastic line up and headlining this year are festival favourites 'TwoManTing'. Other acts include Charlotte House & Richie, Fabulous Red Diesel, Jeremiah Longshanks, Amber the Wobblies plus many more. There will be something for everyone.
"After each act has entertained us, a hat will be passed around for contributions, so please give generously!"
This is not an open invite to busk; performing buskers are strictly by invite only. Buskers who wish to participate in this event should email email@example.com

Summertime Playdays in the Park
Summertime has truly begun with the first play date of the summer holidays, hosted by Hastings Borough Council's Play Hastings Team with support from members of the Hastings and St Leonards Play forum.
On Wednesday, 05 August hundreds of families flocked to Alexandra Park for the first of the council's Playdays in the park which took place on the UK’s National Play Day.
Cllr Dawn Poole, lead member for communities and culture explained:
"It was great to see so many families out in the park, taking advantage of the wide range of fun activities on offer. This included messy play, sand sifting for treasure, water play and water slide, tree climbing, woodwork, dressing up, marble runs, mud pies and much, much more.
"Our thanks must go to all those that help to make our Playdays events so successful; Hastings and St Leonards Play forum which includes In2play, Active Hastings StreetGames, Hastings and St Leonards Children's Centres, the Youth Council, stall holders and other activity providers and of course all the volunteers.
"Over 30 young volunteers aged between 13 and 17 donated their free time to attend play training and then support the play activities at the event. The volunteers were recruited through town wide street play sessions that are supported by Orbit South and AmicusHorizon.
"This year the theme is 'Play More' and calls on everyone to help make sure that children and young people across the UK have the time, freedom and space to play more.
"If you missed this play session don't worry; the next one will take place at Alexandra Park in Hastings on Wednesday 12 August between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Why not come along with your friends, bring a picnic and join in the fun!"
The council's cycle hire hut is now open for the summer season.
Seaside Cycle Hire, situated next to the lifeguard station on Pelham Beach, Hastings offers an extensive range of bicycles for hire to explore the town and the seafront cycle route.
