Kiosk weathers damage
A popular seafront weather kiosk in Hastings is back in business after a damaged door was repaired.
Cllr Peter Chowney, lead member for marketing explained:
"Our weather kiosk on the seafront has been updated every single day of the year for over 100 years, until last week, when a damaged door prevented our meteorology team from gaining access to it.
"I know residents and visitors alike love to check on the weather as they walk along the 'prom', and our volunteer meteorology team have been as disappointed as them not to have been able to give their daily update.
"So we are all very pleased that normal service has been resumed! Our meteorologists are out literally in all weathers taking the daily readings that often show Hastings to be the sunniest and/or warmest place in the country, using traditional equipment, some of it still powered by clockwork! They do a great job, and really put Hastings on the weather map."
