Electricity Substation Owners fined
South Eastern Power Networks plc, the owners of an electricity substation in Mount Pleasant Road, Hastings were summonsed to Eastbourne Magistrates court last Friday 18 March, for failing to comply with a section 215 notice served on them under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
South Eastern Power Networks plc were served the notice on 14 July 2015 by Hastings Borough Council requiring that within three months of 14 September 2015 certain works were undertaken to improve the substation.
The required works included the repairing of wood work, painting and the removal of rubbish at the premises.
Representative of South Eastern Power Networks plc attended court and pleaded guilty. They were fined £800 with costs of £432 and a victim surcharge of £80
Works have now been completed.
Property owner prosecuted
The owner of a property in Western Road, St Leonards was prosecuted at Eastbourne magistrate's court on Friday 18 March for failing to comply with a section 215 notice served by Hastings Borough Council's planning enforcement team under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
Mr Neil Bunyan, the owner of 25 Western Road was served the notice on 28 January 2015 by the council requiring that within six months of 02 March 2015 certain works were undertaken to improve the property in Western Road.
The required works included the rendering of exposed brick work and the painting of render, woodwork and metalwork on the building.
Mr Bunyan failed to attend court and he was found guilty in his absence. He was fined £1000 with costs of £432 and a victim surcharge of £100
Temporary closure to Hastings Tourist Information Centre
The Hastings Tourist Information Centre at Muriel Matters House, Breeds Place, Hastings will be closed temporarily from Monday 04 April to Sunday 17 April so that building works can be completed.
During this time a temporary Tourist Information Centre will operate from the Town Hall at Queens Square near Priory Meadow offering a limited service during its normal opening hours including over the weekends of 9 /10 and 16/17 April.
Providing the building works are completed without delay, the Tourist Information Centre will reopen at Muriel Matters House on Monday 18 April. The telephone number 01424 451111 will remain the same throughout.
