Warning - Residents receive scam letter re new bin service
Some residents in the town have today (29 January) received a bogus letter claiming to be from Hastings Borough Council asking for a cash payment for a new waste collection service.
A council spokesperson stated:
"We are very concerned that some residents have received a bogus letter claiming to be from Hastings Borough Council regarding a new bin service. This is a scam. We urge residents not to leave money out on their doorstep for collection as requested. Hastings Borough Council is not in the process of changing any aspect of the waste and recycling collection.

Business mentoring for the creative and tourism sector
As part of the Coastal Communities Fund (CCF) Sea Escapes project, Hastings Borough Council has launched a one-to-one business mentoring programme for the creative and tourism sector.
Cllr Dawn Poole the council's lead member for regeneration explained:
"We know that Hastings and the surrounding area is a great place to work and invest so we are very excited about this new mentoring programme.
"The Creative & Tourism Mentoring Network will offer support to new and expanding businesses in Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill.
"Businesses can join for free and take advantage of up to six hours one-to-one business mentoring, support in all areas such as business development, marketing and sales and a social media training and toolkit."

Learn to cook a fantastic fish feast for your loved one this Valentine's Day at the Classroom on the Coast, Tuesday 09 February 7 - 10pm.
Chef Toby is inviting all you romantics out there to join him at the Classroom on the Coast, the professional fish cookery school in Hastings Old Town for a very different Valentine's treat.
Toby will teach you how to prepare and cook a two course romantic feast which you can sit down and enjoy with your fellow students at the end of the class with a glass of sparkling wine from one of the finest vineyards in Sussex. Come as a couple for a pre-valentine's day treat or surprise your loved one on Valentine's Day by recreating what you've learnt.
You will be cooking succulent pan seared scallops with cauliflower puree, mini bhajis and curry oil to start, followed by Sole Benoit with soft pomme puree and braised French peas. Spaces are limited so book your place now. Each place costs £50 and includes all ingredients and a glass of wine.
