Consultation
Consultation on our new draft Hastings Local Plan (Regulation 18) document ended 24 March 2021. Thank you to everyone who commented and viewed the plan. We will be reviewing the comments received and updating our timeline shortly.
Creating a new Local Plan is an exciting opportunity for our town and for you, as it will enable us to shape and manage the future development of land and buildings in our borough over the next 20 years.
The plan is an important document that is referred to when planning applications are assessed and sets out the council's strategy for growth, detailing the use of land and assessing the impact of this on our environment.

A Sustainability Appraisal (SA) is being undertaken to inform and influence the development of the Local Plan. As part of this process, an interim SA report has been prepared to accompany the current Regulation 18 consultation on the Local Plan. In addition to other information, the Interim SA report presents an appraisal of a series of approaches and alternatives for the Local Plan which are currently being evaluated as part of the Plan's development and an assessment of the sites potentially available for allocation.
A full SA report will subsequently be prepared and published to accompany the next version of the draft Local Plan. View the SA through our online consultation software.
