About the new Visitor Centre

Through community engagement at the outset of the project a sustainable ethos and design was shaped for the building.

The new Visitor Centre will be of a pioneering load-bearing straw bale construction, comprised of all natural and recycled materials, sourced as locally to the site as possible.

The Visitor Centre itself will be an energy efficient low-carbon building, the straw used as the primary building material provides a breathable and healthy structure.

This will be the first public straw bale building constructed in the borough of Hastings.
