The role of the Ranger Team
The Rangers are dedicated to keeping parks and gardens clean, green and safe working in partnership with community groups and outside agencies.
Leading volunteer groups in practical conservation tasks helps maintain natural areas as well as giving the community the opportunity to have their say and help out fostering ownership.
With specialist training and equipment including off-road vehicles the team can deal with most issues that arise.
Rangers are responsible for enforcing bye-laws such as dog fouling in Parks and assisting East Sussex Traveller Liaison Team in dealing with unauthorised traveller encampments.
The Ranger team also attend regular meetings with the Police to assist with stopping crime and anti-social behaviour within our parks and gardens.
Hastings Borough Council has many high quality green spaces in the borough; these are patrolled by the Ranger team. There are 2 Park Rangers covering all Council owned parks, gardens and many green spaces.
