Leader's weekly update transcript - 04/06/21
Hello, I hope you managed to enjoy some of the lovely weather we have had over the last week. It has been great for all the children who have been on their half term holidays.
The RNLI lifeguards are at Pelham, Pier and Marina beaches to help keep us safe. There are lots of beach safety tips on the RNLI's website.
Our town has been full of life and I hope our businesses have been doing well.
We can help our local businesses by sticking to the rules and checking in to venues. Our environmental team are still visiting places and offering advice and guidance and following up on any reports of breaches of the rules.
Stay safe if you are out and about by remembering Space, Face, Hands and help keep the virus rate low.
There are more pop-up vaccination clinics coming in June and July and the Hastings Centre is on the national booking system now. Let's encourage everyone to get their jab.
The third round of our Additional Restrictions Grant is now open, specifically for those who have not had any statutory funding since the November 2020 lockdown grant. Those who are eligible and received a payment in Round 2 will be paid automatically.
Individuals in the creative industries, of whom we have many in our town, who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may also be eligible to apply so please spread the word.
All the information is at www.hastings.gov.uk/covid19-funding
Bottle Alley is now lit with rainbow colours for all of June for Pride month which gives us all the opportunity to celebrate diversity, promote equality, and recognise the discrimination that still faces the LGBTQ+ community.
Of course, our Hastings Pride event takes place in August, so we'll be lighting Bottle Alley with the colours of the rainbow again then!
As Volunteers Week comes to an end, once again we say thank you to all our caring, committed volunteers who enable so much to happen in our town and help and support us and enhance our lives. You are special and we value you and your work.
Take care, until next week
