Alexandra Park cycle route consultation
Please note that the date for submission of comments has passed. Thank you for all your responses regarding the proposed cycle route in Alexandra Park. We will review all the comments and summarise the key issues for future reports to inform our final decision
Hastings Borough Council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, is considering introducing cycling along a clearly designated route in Alexandra Park. The proposed route will follow existing paths:
- Map of proposed route: Upper Park
- Map of proposed route: Middle Park
- Map of proposed route: Lower Park
Why cycling in Alexandra Park?
Cycling is recognised as an easy, cheap and enjoyable way for people to incorporate physical activity in their everyday lives. Government, Local Government and voluntary groups are committed to improving opportunities for safe cycling routes in our towns and cities.
We have already undertaken extensive consultation on a number of proposed cycle routes across the town. We received your views on the proposals through the 2014 Hastings Walking and Cycling Strategy and the Hastings Planning Strategy and the Local Plan - Development Management Strategy.
A cycling route through Alexandra Park was one of the major routes proposed in these documents and we now invite your views on the proposed route.
We want know if you think the proposed route is safe, well signed and allows for easy access.
What happens next?
We will collate your views and submit these as part of a report to be considered by Cabinet. Should the route be supported, East Sussex County Council will deliver the project by spring 2016.
