A licence is required to sell animals (other than invertebrates) as pets to the public.

Before your licence can be granted, we will need to inspect your premises. This inspection will be carried out by council officers and a vet. The purpose of the inspection is to outline welfare and accommodation conditions for the licence. These conditions are for the protection of the animals.

Once approved your licence will run for up to one year. All licences will expire on the 31st December and need to be renewed.
We will normally complete the application process within 20 working days. This may take longer if the vet inspection is delayed or raises other matters to be completed.

We will send you out a renewal form in early December prior to the expiry of your licence on the 31st.
