Hastings Borough Council plans for emergencies in conjunction with the East Sussex Resilience Emergencies Partnership (ESREP).
We are also a member of the Sussex Resilience Forum (SRF), where we work with other local responder organisations to plan and train together and improve our joint response to emergencies. We have jointly produced the Community Information on Risks in Sussex Booklet, which includes information about the 10 highest risks for communities in Sussex.
A Mutual Aid Agreement is in place with the other 14 local authorities in Sussex to enable easier access to support for affected communities in the event of a major emergency.
As part of our responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act we maintain plans for responding to emergencies. Our links with our other partners and Government enable us to play a full role in civil protection as a Category 1 Responder.
Hastings Borough Council has a multi-agency flood response plan in place which provides a framework for the co-ordinated multi-agency response to flooding or the threat of flooding in Hastings Town Centre, Hastings Seafront and Bulverhythe.
We maintain plans to enable us to continue to deliver critical Council services during an incident, and we encourage local businesses to develop their own Business Continuity plans to be able to continue to trade during a period of disruption.
More information and guidance on business continuity planning is available in the Business and commerce section.
