Spring Flowers
During the autumn we can plant daffodil or crocus bulbs in the Cemetery and Crematorium grounds in memory of a loved one. The daffodils and crocuses are the memorial - no plaques can be placed in these areas.

Memorial Vase and Tablet
Lying in the peaceful setting of our Garden of Rest, each vase block is made from natural material, quarried and worked to give a lasting base for your memorial tablet. Flowers can be place in your own personal vase.
The memorial vase and tablet cost £579 for a 15 year period, they can then be rededicated with the existing plaque.
Rules for Memorial Vase and Tablet
All rights to the ground and the marble vase remain vested in Hastings Borough Council. This memorial site does not include a plot for the strewing/interment of cremated remains (cremated remains can be placed under the turf of an adjacent lawn by arrangement with the Manager)
Inscription Guidelines- The name on the inscription uses a larger type face than the remainder of the inscription and must not exceed fifteen letters and spaces per line.
- Up to three lines can be used for names, however if this happens, line six cannot be used.
- Lines not used for names may have a maximum of twenty smaller letters and spaces.

Memorial Seats
A traditionally crafted bench seat with an inscription engraved into the back rail can be placed at one of over 200 designated locations within the grounds. There are also a limited number of locations for woodland-style seats. All seats are secured by anchor-straps into concrete foundations. Care and maintenance of these seats is the responsibility of the applicant. They are placed for a 10-year period unless they become unsafe for any reason, if so, they will be removed. They can be engraved with an inscription up to 30 letters. The memorial seats cost £1150, we ask anyone considering an application to please contact the office first to agree a location.
Terms of the Memorial Seat Scheme
- Only "Norfolk" and "Woodland" style seats accepted (apart from those received prior to 2001)
Inscriptions of not more than 30 letters shall be engraved directly into the memorial bench (plaques will only be acceptable on seats received prior to 2001) - All seats shall be secured by anchor straps in concrete foundations.
- All seats are placed for a minimum period of 10 years (or when it becomes unsafe).
- Seats found to be unsafe for any reason including vandalism will be removed.
- Applicants shall be responsible for any maintenance.

Tree or Shrub Memorial Plaque
The Cemetery & Crematorium grounds contain many well established trees and shrubs which can be dedicated to the memory of a loved one. Many of these have a small area around them which can be planted should you wish. Plaques are initially dedicated for ten years followed by renewable periods of five years. Additional plaques can be added at any time, please contact the office to discuss this.
They can then be rededicated for the same renewable five-year period with the existing plaque. We're unable to offer any trees or shrubs in the area designated for the strewing of cremated remains. The initial price for a tree is £418 for a 10 year period and a shrub is £398 for a 10 year period.

Remembrance Room Panels
There are two types of memorial panel available within the Remembrance Room, an anodised aluminium classic system plaque with white lettering and leather panels in either red or blue with gold tooled letters. Both types of panel are housed in frames on the wall inside the Remembrance Room. These are initially displayed for ten years followed by renewable periods of five years.

Bronze Memorial Wall Plaques
The Cotswold stone memorial wall is situated on the side of the Garden of Remembrance overlooking the whole Rose Garden. The bronze plaques are held in frames on the wall with the whole garden dedicated to those remembered in this way. Flowers in memory can be placed in the wrought iron stands in the garden or at the base of the wall. The Bronze Memorial plaques cost £386 for a 10 year period.

Book of Remembrance
The Book of Remembrance is held in four volumes - one for each three months of the year (January to March, April to June, July to September and October to December). The volumes are sent away six to eight weeks immediately before going on display, please consider this when planning your entry so we receive your application in good time. The date of entry is normally the date of death, however you are free to choose family dates such as birthdays or wedding anniversaries.
Only the surname and forenames name are entered on the first line and each subsequent line can only accommodate a maximum of 36 letters, figures and spaces. Entries of five or more lines may be accompanied by a floral or other emblem. There are examples in the leaflet but if you want a certain picture or preferred item, the calligraphy team will be willing to include it. The additional fees are listed in the enclosed price list. All fees should accompany your application form.
The Book of Remembrance Room is open every day of the year for viewing of entries for the day. It is often possible to view entries during normal office hours for a date other than the date which would be on view, but you should contact us in advance.

Athenia Memorial Wall Plaque
These large plaques are situated on the Cotswold stone Memorial Wall in the Garden of Remembrance. Made out of durable composite material they can accommodate longer inscriptions and can be enhanced and personalised by colour-etched motifs or an enamelled photo. If space allows, an additional inscription could be added at a later date. The plaques are place for an initial 10 year period at a cost of £375or £441 with an emblem, badge or photo.

Hexagon Memorial
Placed in the centre of the Garden of Remembrance is a granite memorial feature. The plaques attached are made of black granite and are engraved with silver lettering. Bespoke etched motifs or an enamelled photo can be added. Having space for up to eight lines, they can be dedicated to more than one person. If space allows, additional inscriptions can be added at a later date. The engraver will provide a proof beforehand to help you decide how best to use the space.
