A scheme to encourage the sporty and the not so sporty to get more exercise is celebrating its second birthday.
More than 6,000 people have taken part in sports and activities organised by the team, part of Hastings Borough Council, since it started.
A council spokesman said: "The Active Hastings team has had a very successful couple of years. They've organised more than 17,000 sessions, covering everything from traditional sports such as football and tennis to street dance, wall climbing and salsa. People from all ages and backgrounds have taken part including the very young with their parents and older people with specially tailored classes.
"Of those taking part, almost half were doing very little physical activity before joining classes and a quarter had done no exercise in the last year. It's important that people see there is so much more to getting active than just going to a gym, which is not for everyone.
"On top of offering classes, the team has taken the 30 minutes of exercise a day message into the office with the Workplace campaign. In February more than 400 people took part in taster sessions and tournaments with their colleagues."
Next on the agenda is a dedicated over 50s week between 9 June and 15 June. For more information about this or Active Hastings activities in general, call in to the Hastings Information Centre for a leaflet or telephone: 0845 274 1050.
