On 6 April 2008 the Fees for Planning Applications will increase.
The full details are available on the Office of Public Sector Information website but in summary in most cases where the fee was £135 it will increase to £170, and where the fee is currently £265 it will increase to £335. There will be a new fee of £150 for the erection of outbuildings and fences associated with single family dwellings. Our website will be updated from 6 April 2008.
From 1 April 2008 we will no longer be able to accept applications on our old forms because the new national 1APP forms become mandatory. You can apply online or download the forms and post them to the Planning Team at Century House.
On 1 April 2008 we will formally adopt our new Validation Checklists and after that date we will not register applications that fail to include all the required details. The checklists have been through a consultation process and were agreed by Cabinet on 3 March.
The government has laid the Statutory Instrument in Parliament which will mean microgeneration systems like ground source heat pumps and solar panels will become permitted development and no longer require planning consent.
Size limitations have been set to reduce impact on neighbours. At this stage the amendment allows for the installation of solar photovoltaics (PV), solar thermal, ground and water source heat pumps, biomass heating and combined heat and power systems on or within the curtilage of the dwelling house. You can read the full details on the Office of Public Sector Information website.
