Planning the Future of Hastings
- don't miss your last chance to comment on the Statement of Community Involvement

A shingle beach

Following various stages of consultation, the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), which sets out the standards for consultation with the community on various planning issues (including planning applications) has now been submitted to the Secretary of State for independent examination.  This means that the SCI is now subject to a final six week consultation period.

The Submission Statement of Community Involvement and all its related documents are available to download from this website from www.hastings.gov.uk/ldf.

Alternatively, copies can be obtained by contacting our Forward Planning Team, and are also available at the Hastings Information Centre (Town Hall, Hastings), and the Hastings Central Library (Claremont).

If you wish to object to the SCI, or part of the SCI, the official forms are also available to download from this website from www.hastings.gov.uk/ldf.  In your objection, you should make clear in what way the SCI or part of the SCI is not sound, having regard to the tests set out by the Planning Inspectorate.  You should try to support your objection by evidence showing why the SCI should be changed.  It will be helpful if you also say precisely how you think the SCI should be changed.

In considering whether you wish to make representations on the SCI you may wish to consider the following principles for community involvement which are set out in the document ‘Community Involvement in Planning: The Government's Objectives’ also available on the website, or by contacting our offices on the details below.

All representations should be received on or before 5th December 2005, and those received will be submitted to the Secretary of State and published in full (including contact details) on the Council's website, and at the main office.  You may also request to be notified of the publication of the recommendations of the person appointed to carry out the independent examination, or the adoption of the SCI, or both.
