Above: Pebsham Green Space as it is today
The Pebsham Countryside Park Project is at an exciting stage of its development and we’re looking for your input and support. The park will develop and enhance the green space area between Hastings, Bexhill and Crowhurst.
Working with our partners Rother District Council, East Sussex County Council and INTERREG, our aim is to create a sustainable, multi-functional area with zones for leisure, relaxation, sport, ecology and education.
We’re looking at the needs of the urban and rural communities in the area and at attracting visitors the open-space land in Pebsham, Bulverhythe and the Combe Haven valley.
The size of the park will be in the region of 600 hectares (1480 acres), and the next step will be to define the area and land use zones more clearly, in consultation with landowners and the public.
Visitors are already welcomed to the Filsham Reedbeds, managed by Sussex Wildlife Trust, and early developments in the park will include improved signs and circular walking routes.
We’ll be conducting a consultation exercise on the park so everybody has a chance to help shape it.
Please note that if you visit the park area, you should remain on the designated public rights of way (public footpaths and bridleways).

The Pebsham Countryside Park is at a crucial stage of early development, with a major opportunity for the community to help shape its future.
To this end, we are conducting a community consultation over the autumn to find out your views, ideas and aspirations.
We are holding a series of workshops with community representatives, from residents to business people, interest groups, councillors and young people. We will be organising exhibitions where you can come along to find out more about the projects and give your opinions. We are busy talking to institutional stakeholders to find out what they think, and a questionnaire will be available soon - on the project web site (see below) and in hard copy format in local libraries and community centres.
Three public exhibitions are being held for people to find out about the project and give their views:
A series of workshops will be hosted to hear ideas from local group including land owners, residents, business people, young people, arts groups, sports clubs, disability forums, ethnic groups, the police and many more. Details of workshop dates and notes from each session will be available on the project web site (see below).
