Consultation Summary

Hastings Borough Council is consulting with community and residents groups on a Parks and Open Spaces Strategy for the Borough.  We are asking you if you support the broad strategic recommendations contained in the draft Strategy Report.  We will then take the Strategy forward for adoption hopefully in April 2006.

In preparing the Strategy we have sought views on the Borough's Open Spaces from local community groups, and through a specially commissioned Citizens Panel.  We have also carried out a detailed audit of some 280 sites across the Borough in order to help us formulate the Strategy.

The Strategy has four main components:

  • A vision setting out the Strategy's long term aspirations
  • A small number of key aims supported by measurable objectives and a recommended new target for the Community Strategy
  • Clear priorities for the Council and its partners
  • Recommendations on a number of key issues that face the Council and its Partners

Once the Strategy has been adopted a detailed delivery plan will be drawn in consultation with the new Area Management Boards and the existing Neighbourhood Forums.

You can request a copy of the Summary Report as a CD ROM by telephoning 01424 451853.

Please send us your comments on the Strategy by Monday 13 March 2006 either by:
email: parks@hastings.gov.uk
