If we carry on until we come to the junction just before the iron bridge the last tree on the right (somewhat dominated by a Holly) is another unusual one. It is a subspecies of the Gogun Tree, Meliosma dilleniifolia ssp. tenuis. It has dark green toothed leaves and is most noticeable in July when its clusters of small pale creamy yellow flowers cast a strong fragrance. This subspecies comes from Japan, but the name Gogun is taken from the Nepali name for the species.
