Motorcycle Parking

The current Hastings Borough Council policy on parking for motorcycles is as follows:

  • When parking in a Pay and Display car park, regardless of whether or not you are in a marked Pay and Display Bay or Motorcycle Bay, you must pay the charge for one hours parking but this will cover you for the rest of the day or until the car park closes.  A new charging period will commence at 8am the next day.
  • When parking in an On Street Pay and Display Bay, you must pay for one hours parking if intending to stay for more than an hour, but are only able to stay for the maximum parking time as stated on the machine and the signpost.
  • Motorcycles are not permitted to park in Resident Permit Holders Only Bays, unless you have a valid Resident or Resident Visitor parking permit.  Due to concerns about security of permits on motorcycles, it is suggested that if you are a permit holder, you display a photocopy of your permit and keep the original safe in case of a query.
  • Motorcycles are not permitted to use the bicycle frames, which are situated in the Pedestrian Zones in the Town Centre.
  • Motorcycles are not exempt from 'No Waiting' parking restrictions.
  • There are 4 specific parking places provided in Hastings for Motor Cycles.  They are located in Albert Road/Denmark Place, Castle Street/Breeds Place, Robertson Street/White Rock and Wellington Square, the North Eastern Corner.  Parking is free within those areas.
  • Plastic Pay and Display ticket holders are available free of charge from the Parking Office or Hastings Information Centre.  These holders can be used to display your Pay and Display ticket, either around the handlebar or seat strap.  They are not secure, but will keep your ticket dry and safe from the elements.  It is always recommended that you retain the tear off stub from the ticket in order to prove that one was purchased, in the event of a penalty charge notice being issued to the motorcycle.
