Clamping and Removal of Vehicles

Hastings Borough Council operates a clamping policy whereby the vehicles of persistent evaders (that is where five or more penalty charge notices remain outstanding) will be clamped and removed where necessary.

If such a vehicle is found in contravention of parking restrictions (examples include vehicles parked on double yellow lines, parked in a restricted bay or parked in a fee-paying bay with no valid ticket in view), a penalty charge notice will be issued and the vehicle clamped by the Enforcement Team.

In the event of a vehicle being clamped, for your vehicle to be released, you must go to the Parking Office with the following documentation:

  • Vehicle registration document (V5) - to be seen in all cases
  • Driving licence (proof of driver) and valid insurance document
  • Current Council Tax bill and recent utility bill/credit card statement (proof of address)
  • Your Payment - Cash or Credit/Debit card.  Cheques are not accepted.

Release fees are:

  • Clamping fee - £40
  • Penalty Charge Notice Fees - £30 / £60
  • Removal Fees - £105
  • Daily Storage Charge - £12

A fee of £70 must be paid before the clamp is removed - this includes payment of the Penalty Charge Notice incurred on the day and for the clamp removal fee.  You are advised to attend the Parking Office as soon as possible, certainly before 4pm on the day of clamping.  Any delay may result in your vehicle being removed, in which case after 24 hours, the release fee is £105 plus any overnight storage charge at £12 per 24 hour period.
