How to Use the Interactive Local Plan

The Local Plan is divided into 2 parts; Written Statement and Proposals Maps.

Navigating around the Written Statement

Contents

A full listing of the chapters contained within the Written Statement contents page.  Selection of a chapter will open the Written Statement scrolled to the appropriate position.  You can scroll through the chapter using either your scroll keys on your keyboard, the scroll bar to the right of the screen or by the scroll wheel on your mouse (if applicable).  You can move between chapters by using the links at the bottom of the chapter.

Chapter 13 - Policy Index of the written statement contains a full listing of all policies with links to take you to the relevant chapter of the written statement, scrolled to the appropriate position.

Navigating around the Maps

Selecting Proposals Maps in the header bar displays a map of the borough and a drop down menu will appear.  Here you can either select a specific location/inset map from the listing or, if using using Opera or Internet Explorer, click anywhere on the map image.  Each method will take you to an opening image of the inset/proposals map, click on the image or the link to 'open at the centre of map' to progress the main map window.

Navigating around the Map Window

The right-hand locator map below the main map image shows the geographical location of the main map image within Hastings Borough Council's environs.  The left-hand locator map shows the geographical location of the main map image within the inset itself - see screenshot below.

By selecting the links at the top of the screen, you can access the Written Statement Contents and Proposals Maps of the Interactive Local Plan.  Also located here is a link to the legend page that shows all the colours and styles used in the mapping to represent the policies featured within the Local Plan, to aid identification of the policies shown on the maps.

You can navigate around the currently selected inset map by using the 'pan' tools located below the main map image.  By clicking on these the next map tile in that direction will appear.  Opera and Internet Explorer users have the option of moving larger distances by clicking on either of the two locator maps below.  Please note that any movement of the main map image will be correspondingly matched by the blue locators on the locator maps.

Hovering your mouse over the main map image produces a tip tag, indicating what policies apply to the relevant position of your mouse.  By clicking at that position you will open a window with a listing of all policies for that location.  By selecting each one in turn the relevant text will appear.  Use the back button in your web browser to return to the listing.
