The Schools listed below have signed the Code of Practice, which includes a detailed Declaration outlining operating standards, requiring them to provide appropriate premises, a good standard of education, varied and attractive leisure and social activities (to help avoid large groups of students congregating in the town centre), adequate student welfare facilities, advice on host family accommodation and local transport services. Although voluntary, the Code is fully supported by Hastings Borough Council and only signatories of the Code are promoted in response to requests for information made to the Council and the South East England Tourist Board.
In addition to signing the Code of Practice, a number of schools are British Council and ARELS recognised and have been inspected by the British Council in all areas of their operation including teaching, teacher qualifications and welfare.
