Housing Renewal Enforcement Policy

The Council adopted a reviewed enforcement policy in April 2007, which replaced all others which preceded it.  The purpose of the policy is to outline how Housing Renewal Services approaches enforcement in terms of standards, proportionality, consistency and transparency.

The policy is an enabling document, which will allow the Council to continue to work toward meeting the objectives and targets set out in the adopted Housing Strategy 2004 - 2009, specifically:

"Improve residents' quality of life and the conditions of the town's housing, with particular emphasis on privately rented homes, empty homes and concentrations of properties that fail the statutory minimum standard."
