Lighting

Please use our online fault reporting system to report problems with streetlights.  The County Council has a direct responsibility to repair faults within five working days or within 24 hours for priority work (such as more than five lights out in row) and carry out emergency work within one hour of it being reported.

Streetlights and illuminated signs are regularly inspected and maintenance work is carried out periodically.

  • Patrols (at night) are carried out fortnightly in winter and monthly in summer
  • Inspections, tests and cleaning are carried out every two years
  • Bulk lamp changes take place every four years in general
  • Painting is done every 10 years (and every two years on coastal roads exposed to sea spray)
