We manage the highways network in the town on behalf of East Sussex County Council, which is the Highway Authority. As part of our agreement with the County Council, we carry out a number of its statutory duties but it retains some, mainly those that require considerable capital investment.
In general, this arrangement means that local road and highways problems are dealt with locally.
