Introduction: Hastings Accredited Lettings

The primary goal of the Scheme is to promote and reward good standards of accommodation in the private sector and to raise the overall quality of housing in the Hastings and St Leonards area, as part of Hastings Borough Council's Housing Strategy aimed at developing "sustainable, secure and affordable communities where homes are in good repair".

HALo is aimed at landlords and letting agents who have properties of a good standard and wish to be recognised as such.

For tenants it gives assurance that their home meets required housing and safety standards, as well as being managed to a high quality.  For landlords it provides a market advantage by making properties more desirable.  Tenants are more likely to continue to live in properties that are well managed rather than seeking alternatives at the end of their tenancy, which means that Landlords retain the loyalty of good tenants, so good lettings practices are rewarded.
