Generation Green - The Plastics and Nappy Problem

Most nappies and plastics take over 500 years to even begin biodegrading.  Put simply, this means that every nappy or piece of plastic that has ever gone into the Pebsham Landfill Site IS STILL THERE.  When you consider that 8 million nappies are thrown away in the UK EVERY DAY and that those nappies release methane (a potent greenhouse gas and major cause of climate change) you begin to see the scale of the problem.

Remember that plastics bearing the triangular symbols numbered 1-3, can be recycled in Hastings (just place them in your green wheeled bin or your recycling box!):

If your child is using nappies, try contacting the East Sussex Real Nappy Network which can offer help, advice and even special offers so you can save money and the environment at the same time!
