  3. To provide a professional and efficient estates and valuation service covering the Council's landed property interests including industrial and miscellaneous properties.
  4. To comply with legal requirements for property disposals and acquisitions on terms which represent the best reasonably obtainable whilst supporting the Council's employment and regeneration policies.

Asset Management Plan

The Asset Management Plan sets out to optimise the Council's land and building assets to achieve our corporate goals and objectives and is a vital tool in resource planning.

Asset Management raises awareness of resources invested in the Council's assets and ensures they are used, maintained and developed appropriately.

The Plan comprises 2 interacting components - Strategic Asset Management and Operational Asset Management.

With Strategic Asset Management, the focus is on medium to long term asset investment linked to customer and service delivery requirements.  Benefits of this part of the Plan include the release of capital for re-investment or debt reduction, better public service with co-location of services and similar uses in the same property.

Operational Asset Management encompasses the management of fixed assets on a short to medium term basis and can be managed by individual services but the long term strategic use of assets remains a corporate responsibility.
