Introduction

The Council's Planning Strategy has been submitted to the Secretary of State for examination.

All the submitted documents (including all the representations made to the formal consultation) and the supporting evidence base are available on the Planning Strategy Submission page.

Mr Richard E Hollox BA(Hons) BSc(Econ) MPhil FRTPI FRICS has been appointed as the independent Inspector to conduct the examination.

As part of the Examination, hearings sessions ran from 05 until 14 February 2013.  The Council intend to consult on the proposed Main Modifications and the implications of the revocation of the South East Plan during May/June 2013 for a six week period. Further information will be posted on our consultation pages when available.

At the request of the Inspector the Council has formally written to Rother District Council about whether they are able to accommodate some of the housing need for Hastings which is a consequence of the revocation of the South East Plan and guidance in the National Planning Policy Framework. The Inspector will consider the representations received from the consultations and the response from Rother DC and will produce a final report on whether the plan is sound and legally compliant.

Programme Officer

Lynette Duncan has been appointed as Programme Officer; her role is to assist the Inspector in organising the hearings for the Examination, and to liaise with those organisations and individuals who have made representations concerning the Planning Strategy.
