About the Standards Committee

The Standards Committee consists of five Councillors and two independent people and meets as and when required.

The function of the Committee is to:
- advise the Council on the adoption or revision of its Code of Conduct
- monitor and advise the Council about the operation of its Code of Conduct in light of best practice, changes in law and guidance from the Standards Board
- ensure all members of the Council have access to training in all aspects of the Code of Conduct

These meetings are open to the public, apart from Part II items, and take place in the Town Hall.
