Complaints and Comments

Introduction

If you’re reading this, you’re thinking about lodging a complaint.  Before you do, it’s important to try to focus on the key issues of the complaint to avoid confusion and to ensure it is dealt with as swiftly as possible.

You should only use the provided form when you believe we have:

  • Not done something we should have
  • Done something wrong
  • Taken too long to do something
  • Been unfair or acted inappropriately

If your complaint is about an incident of discrimination, please address your concerns directly to our Customer Care and Complaints service.

The complaints process is not a way to appeal against a decision simply because you do not agree with it.  This applies particularly to decisions relating to Planning Applications and Housing and Council Tax Benefit.  If you are unhappy with a decision, you should ask the department concerned to tell you what appeal procedures there may be to allow you to challenge the decision.

Please read our Assistance with Making Complaints page for information about getting advice on making your complaint.
Our Complaints Process page describes the procedures for making a complaint, and what you should do if you are not happy with the way we have dealt with your complaint.
Our The Local Government Ombudsman page explains the role of the Local Government Ombudsman in dealing with complaints, and how to contact the Ombudsman.
Our on-line Complaint Form enables you to send us your complaint directly from this site.
Of course, we're always happy to receive your Comments & Compliments !
