About the competition
Following on from the photography competition 'My Stade' 2010, Stade Stories is a photography competition and partnership project between between Brighton Photo Fringe/Photo Hub Group, Hastings, The Stade Education Project, The Fishermen's Museum, The Fishermen's Protection Society, The Shipwreck Museum and Blue Reef Aquarium. Whatever age, background, or level of ability, everyone is welcome to take part and both professional and amateur photographers are invited to participate.
The aim of the competition is for members of the public to take photographs on or of the Stade which tell a story. The Judges will be looking for strong images that suggest a story has taken place on or about the Stade. Personal narratives and interpretations are encouraged, as is experimental work and digital imagery.

The Judges
The Judges of Stade Stories will be:
- Grace Lau: a photographer/writer who has exhibited at Tate Britain and Brighton Museum and also been a past judge at the National Portrait Gallery's annual Portrait Photography competition
- Yasmin Ornsby: the Chair of the Stade Partnership
- Jeremy Birch: the Leader of Hastings Borough Council

Winners and Prizes
There will be four winners – three adults and one child/young person (under the age of 16) and one winner chosen by the public as 'People's Choice'. The adult winners will each receive a Canon Powershot digital compact camera and the child/young person will win a year's free family membership to the Blue Reef and they will all have their work displayed at the Fishermen's Museum, Shipwreck Museum or Blue Reef Aquarium from Saturday 10 September until Saturday 13 November 2010 as part of Coastal Currents Arts festival.
A further 40 photographs will be selected by the Judges for exhibition at the Shipwreck Museum, Blue Reef Aquarium or the Fishermen's Museum.

How to enter your photographs
- Entry is £3 per photograph – to be paid in cash at the Fishermen's Museum, or cheque made payable to 'The Fishermen's Museum. The entry fee will be used to contribute towards the costs of the competition
- You can enter a maximum of 3 photographs which must all be your own work
- The minimum size for photographs is A5
- The maximum size for photographs is A3
- Photographs must be un-mounted and un-framed and submitted in a suitable envelope clearly labelled 'Stade Stories'
- Label the back of your photograph/s with your name, address and postcode, email address, phone number and title of the work. If you are 16 or over, write 'adult', if you are under 16 please write 'under 16'
- The competition closes at 2pm on Sunday 24 July 2011
- Please submit your photo/s to the Fishermen's Museum, Rock a Nore Road, Hastings, East Sussex
- Photograph/s must be taken between 01 January and 24 July 2011, on or of the Stade in the Hastings.
The Stade extends from the Harbour Arm behind the Lifeboat station to the groyne at the Eastern end of the beach. The Stade encompasses the shingle beach, the fishing fleet, the net shops, and the traders on Rock a Nore Road. It includes, Winkle Island, the East Well, East Hill Lift, The Fish Market, fish shops The Fishermen's Museum, the Shipwreck Centre and the Blue Reef Aquarium.
- By taking part in the competition you are agreeing to your image/s being exhibited and reproduced for promotional purposes
- Relatives of the Judges may not enter
- Judging will take place at the end of July. The Judges decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into
- The selected photographs to be exhibited will be suitably framed for hanging by Carbon Framers at no extra cost to the selected photographers
