Hastings Skate Park
Working closely with the local community and with funding from Hastings Borough Council, Youth Bank (a County Council initiative) and the Boyley Trust, we reopened the new, improved Hastings Skatepark to wide acclaim on Saturday 21 August 2010. The highlight of the design is a capsule or cradle, shaped like a bowl with an overhang. It's the first of this type to be built in the UK and will attract experienced skaters from the town and beyond.
See the Skatepark in action!
Filmed by Wheelscape Skateparks, these films show the fantastic new facilities used by skaters and bikers:

The construction of the Skate Park

Concrete is sprayed via a pump to encapsulate steel reinforcing and is floated with a trowel to form the smooth skate surface. Drainage is installed to allow the bowls to empty during rainfall.

The skate park is the first in the country requiring such challenging construction techniques. The first image shows the steel reinforcing and form work, the second one, concrete being sprayed at the framework.
