About the Project

The Pebsham Countryside Park project is a joint project between Hastings Borough Council, Rother District Council and East Sussex County Council, and is in the early stages of development.  It has been part of a series of developments in East Sussex and northern France which have benefited from European funding.  The park will develop and enhance the green space between Hastings, Bexhill and Crowhurst, an area of approximately 600 hectares (1,480 acres).

We want to create space for leisure, relaxation, sport, ecology and education.  Early developments in the proposed park area have included new signposts marking public rights of way and some improved paths.  There is fine countryside to enjoy in the proposed park area including Filsham Reedbeds, the disused railway and Bulverhythe beach.  If you visit the park area, please stay on designated public footpaths and bridleways.

Over the next three years there will be improved access:

  • on Bulverhythe beach by providing a route between Bexhill and Hastings promenades for pedestrians and cyclists
  • in the green open space south of the Combe Haven valley

Become a friend of the park.

Help to look after and plan your new countryside park by joining the new Friends Group, e-mail james.waite@rother.gov.uk or call  01424 787660.
