South East England Development Agency (SEEDA)

South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) logo

SEEDA aims to increase the start-up survival and growth rate of young companies using global best practice.  They are establishing some 22 Enterprise Hubs throughout the South East region with one in Hastings focusing on helping entrepreneurs and companies in high technology sectors with high growth potential.

Additionally, they're creating a network of 20 Enterprise Gateways which nurture young companies within the general business community. For more information about the various forms of business finance available visit the SEEDA website.

South East Growth Fund

This provides equity finance to companies based in the South East of England with exceptional growth potential.  The amounts available range from £100,000 to £500,000.  You can find further information and contact contact details on the South East Growth Fund website.

Finance South East

This not-for-profit organisation is supported by SEEDA and Business Link and gives access to finance to improve pre- and post-investment support for ambitious growth companies and entrepreneurs in the South East of England.  They have experienced finance professionals used to dealing with small businesses.   For more information visit their web site at www.financesoutheast.com.

Grant for Research and Development (G4R&D)

This grant encourages start-up businesses and existing small businesses to carry out research and development work on technologically innovative products and processes.  For more information go SEEDA's G4R&D pages.

Accelerator Fund

This £10 million loan fund supports small and medium sized companies (early stage or established) in the South East of England with the potential for significant growth.  It can lend from £25,000 to £100,000 with up to an additional £100,000 being made available after 9 months.  More information is available from Finance South East

Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE)

This grant is known as Tier 3 (formerly called Enterprise Grant) and is available throughout East Sussex, including Hastings to promote economic regeneration by helping small companies improve local skills and employment.  The minimum grant is £10,000 and the maximum £100,000, possibly spread over several applications.  To look at the criteria and download a guide , visit the SEEDA website.  In Hastings, Ten Sixty Six Enterprise can help you with advice about your eligibility and the application process.

Sussex Enterprise supports your business through membership services and through Business Link.  They're a fully accredited Chamber of Commerce and also offer a wide range of quality assured services.

Ten Sixty Six Enterprise

This organisation is the Chamber of Commerce for Hastings & St. Leonards and also the enterprise agency for the area.  They help those who wish to set up new businesses and give ongoing support to established businesses.  They also embrace the important roles of Town Centre Management and promoting links between education and local business.

Business Incentive Scheme

This grant offers £1000 per full time job created in the first six months of operation and occupied by somebody already resident in the Hastings Travel to Work area.  The grants are funded by Hastings Borough Council, but applications are available from 1066 Enterprise. The maximum grant is £15,000 per company/business. Details are available on the Ten Sixty Six Enterprise website.
