Housing Renewal Team Leader (Enforcement)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • Previous experience of working in the Environmental Health or Housing sector
  • Good practical understanding of financial management and operating processes and procedures and ability to input & retrieve data and ability to advise others.
  • Private Sector Housing experience and of supervising staff would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the legal and policy framework relating to private sector housing, Disabled Facilities Grants, Enforcement and housing renewal would be desirable.
  • Sound practical knowledge of building and construction practices and a basic knowledge of landlord and tenant legislation and practice would be beneficial.

THE ROLE

The main purpose of the role is to manage the functions of the Enforcement Team in the Housing Renewal Section, in order to secure a healthy and safe living environment through advice, Financial Assistance (including Disabled Facilities Grants), education and enforcement of statutory provisions relating to housing conditions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The flexibility to attend evening and weekend meetings if required.

THE ORGANISATION

Hastings Borough Council is a Local Authority providing a range of Public Services ranging from Communities & Living, Environmental & Planning through to Housing, Tax and Benefits.

People/Skills that are appropriate for this role include: Environmental Health Officer, Housing Officers, Enforcement Officers, Property Managers, Social Housing Officers, Finance Officers.

Lifeguards

Ref: 654
Salary: Lifeguards £7.88 per hour (pay award pending)
Both Part Time and Full Time positions available - minimum of 12 hours per week
Fixed term until September 2016

Applicants should hold or be willing to train towards obtaining:

  • RLSS National Vocational Beach Lifeguard Qualification
  • First Aid at Work

You will be expected to undergo a swimming test in the pool of 400m in under 8 minutes as part of the selection process. If successful you will then be invited to an interview. You will also be required to attend in house training throughout the season.

You will be required to work weekends and bank holidays.

Interviews will be held on 27 th May 2016 and candidates will also need to be available for pool swimming test on 20 th May 2016
