100 apprenticeships target smashed!
The Hastings 100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days Challenge reached its target after just 31 days.
133 apprenticeship pledges or starts have been committed across Hastings and Rother and there's still plenty of time for others to come on board and support the challenge.

The Launch
Hastings' 100 days challenge was launched by Cllr Jeremy Birch, Leader of Hastings Council on Monday 06 February. Cllr Birch announced that the local business community are already answering the challenge and pledged 35 new apprenticeship positions!
More than 70 people attended, including the (NAS), training providers who are sponsoring the 100 days challenge, employers and apprentices. Local MP, Amber Rudd is also supporting the campaign and has been out and about encouraging local businesses to pledge their support for the 100 days challenge.
Many local businesses already see the benefit of taking on an apprentice but there is still room for others to come on board and be part of this exciting challenge. If you are a local business and haven't thought about apprenticeships before, or are considering employing an apprentice, contact the Council's 'Own Grown' Apprenticeship Initiative to find out how we can support you to get involved with our exciting 100 days challenge.
Every week over the 100 days the Observer newspapers will have more information about good practice, success stories, and government incentives.
Hastings Borough Council would like to thank the training providers for sponsoring the 100 days challenge. They will be visiting and contacting Hastings businesses during the 100 days to talk about the benefits of apprenticeships and encourage pledges towards our 100 days challenge.

Free training needs review
The Let's Do Business Group are pleased to offer any business that pledges an apprenticeship position/s during the Hastings 100 days challenge a Free Training Needs Review and discount on other services that we offer.
Working with our trained advisers, businesses will be able to take a more strategic look at their training needs, particularly with regard to Apprenticeships. Our advisers will then work with the business to try to find the best solution for their needs.
This approach has led to local businesses working together and sharing best practices. For example two leaders in their respective fields are laying plans for close working ties in 2012. Bausch and Lomb and Torr Scientific were brought together through the apprenticeship programme offered by the Let's Do Business Group. Steve Graham, Plant Manager at Bausch & Lomb said:
"The training programme is working really well, so much so that we are now discussing with LDBgroup opportunities for further development and progression in 2012".
For referrals for those businesses that are pledging and apprenticeship position, please contact Ian Smallwood or Jeremy Green on 08444152272 or email info@ldbgroup.co.uk
