Background information about our Service

Our Service Objectives

1. To ensure that all property resources make maximum contribution to the aims, objectives, policies and programmes of the Hastings Borough Council at community, corporate and service levels
2. To ensure a property management strategy which is sustainable in the longer term and achieve best value for money in all property management services
3. To provide a professional and efficient estates and valuation service covering the Council's landed property interests including industrial and miscellaneous properties
4. To comply with legal requirements for property disposals and acquisitions on terms which represent the best reasonably obtainable whilst supporting the Council's employment and regeneration policies
5. To ensure maximum occupation of land and buildings to support Council's regeneration objectives, whilst maximising revenue and capital receipts
6. To improve the Council's office accommodation
7. To ensure the Council's National Non Domestic Rates liability is minimised

Asset Management Plan

Property is a valuable resource that directly impacts upon the performance of a wide range of local authority services.  It is costly to run and maintain so making the best use of the Council's assets is essential.

The Asset Management Plan is a key corporate document which details how the Council manages its property assets to achieve its corporate objectives.  It has recently been rewritten to reflect changes since it was last updated in 2008/09.
