The training of a new workforce for the inward investor or the ongoing training of staff is an important need, which can be fulfilled in Hastings.
Hastings is a town where we've responded to the government's Skills Strategy with greater emphasis on post-16 education provisions.
It is possible for employers to access solutions through the countywide Learning and Skills Council and its programme Action for Business Skills which can provide flexible, tailored training through a network of People Development Advisors. They will help you get together with the local college in Hastings and/or independent training providers to develop schemes that are right for your business and its people.
We maintain high standards of local training through the Learning and Skills Council's programme Action for Business Colleges. This network of publicly funded training providers has offers a range of training solutions to meet the needs of employers and employees at all levels.
Also central to the Learning and Skills Council's task of improving skills for employment and national competitiveness are Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs). This programme is primarily focused on delivering skills at level 3 and will enable the development, maintenance and delivery of high quality, specialist provision across a range of vocational areas.
Hastings College of Art and Technology is a Centre of Vocational Excellence and is the only college in Sussex to be recognised as a centre of vocational excellence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for business. The college provides a wide range of courses, which increase the skills required for the area particularly at Level 3 AS, A2 or NVQ 3 standard. The college also provides learning under the Cisco Networking Academy Programme, which provides students with the internet skills essential in a global economy. The college is keen to support businesses with a training analysis followed by tailor made courses to fit their needs, or in-company training..
The new University Centre Hastings (UCH), which is managed by the University of Brighton, has brought top quality courses, the majority of which are able to provide the level of education and development demanded by local employers.
The Education and Learning area on this web site gives more information on the primary, secondary and language schools in Hastings.
