The Broadband Centre

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) received funds from the European Commission's South East Programme of Innovative Actions (SEPIA) and created Hastings' The Broadband Centre.  The overall aim is to grow new and existing businesses through the use of IT, broadband and the internet.  Staff at the centre work with small businesses on a 1-2-1 basis to allow them to exploit the technology - helping them cut back on administration costs and develop new channels to market.

The centre does not sell anything but gives free and impartial advice.  An initial meeting is held to discover more about your business.  Following this, your personalised e-business consultation report is written up.  During a second meeting the team will discuss the content in detail with you, as the owner or manager of a local business, deal with the subsequent questions which will arise and explain the proposed solution.  You can then choose from a list of recommended suppliers, to help them implement the way forward.

Sustainable Business and Innovation

The Sustainable Business and Innovation project, part of the South East Programme of Innovative Actions is geared to:

  • Give the Hastings business community access to the best available business and technical advice free of charge
  • Stimulate skills development through free business workshops, network groups, and mentoring, backed up with direct advice and support
  • Improve local business information and intelligence to include web-based demonstrations of local technology, products or services
  • Map existing sustainable enterprise potential and encourage enterprise start-ups
  • Improve understanding of the economic, social and environmental advantages that can be gained through business adopting sustainable best practice methods

This is all in line with the UK Sustainable Development Strategy which highlights a range of sustainable procurement, product design and innovation issues.

This project will provide free intensive support for businesses that develop or deliver sustainable technologies, products or services.  To assist your business we can offer an initial analysis which we can use to tailor an action plan designed to meet your specific needs.  The action plan can be drawn up to cover a range of issues from the development of an environmental management system to a tailored marketing strategy.

Please Contact Us if you are interested in finding out more about the programme of free business support.
