Help for Wheelchair Users

Wheelchair Users can get full access to Hastings beach and the sea, thanks to unique buggies called Tiralos.

We were the first local authority in the country to import the floating buggies from France and they've proved really popular.  The yellow, lightweight Tiralos allow wheelchair users and people with restricted mobility to get a tow straight into the water or across the beach.

There are two available.  They are free to use on the beach but £2 for a half hour session in the sea with one of our lifeguards.

We also lay special matting on the beach at Pelham during the summer season, allowing better access to the beach in conventional wheelchairs.

More information is available from the Beach Attendants or Lifeguards stationed opposite Pelham Place.
