Don't miss your chance to help Shape Hastings

Shaping Hastings characters We're working on a series of important documents, which will shape our town's growth and development over the next 20 years.  At the moment, we're preparing a Core Strategy, which is first in this series of new planning documents.  During May and June, we'll be taking exhibitions about the Core Strategy out around the town and asking you for comments.

This document is at the heart of the Local Development Framework and describes a vision for the kind of place we want the town to be by 2026.

It supports our Community Strategy and provides an analysis of the challenges and opportunities facing the town.  Following your feedback in 2006, we'now moved on from a more general strategy called 'Issues and Options' to a more detailed version called 'Preferred Approaches'.

We want to know what you think about our 'Preferred Approaches' which set out the direction we want the town to go in up to 2026.  These documents are all part of our Local Development Framework, which will replace our Local Plan by 2011 and set out where building can and cannot take place and identify areas we want to preserve for the future.

You might have already seen us at exhibitions we have held at Priory Meadow, Four Courts Community Centre and The Bridge Community Centre.  The 'Preferred Approaches' document and details of how to comment are also on our website at www.hastings.gov.uk
