How does your Garden grow?

Spring arrived with snow, sun, hailstones and rain - in short, every kind of weather you could have wished for.  Who'd have thought daffodils would be poking their heads through an inch of icy snow in April?

While our poor flowers, plants and shrubs might have been confused by the shifting seasons, it certainly hasn't put people off getting back in to the garden thanks to longer, lighter evenings.

We really know how to make the most of our green spaces in Hastings, be they private gardens, public parks, allotments or window boxes.

Garden waste collection has changed over the last few months and the Council now offers a green bin service to remove all your cuttings, replacing the sack scheme of previous years.

Bins make it possible to get rid of more garden waste in one go and of course they prevent rodents and seagulls from tearing open sacks.

The big drive towards green living and recycling is old news for the hundreds of gardeners who have been using composters for years, providing nutritious mulch to help gardens grow.

If you are considering composting but worried about the size of a composter, East Sussex County Council might have the solution you need.

Why not have a chat with the Compost Doctor and find out what's on offer?  From a Cone to a Johanna, a lack of space doesn't have to rule you out of recycling organic materials.

In the meantime, enjoy your garden and keep an eye on our green spaces and some of the changes taking place over the summer.
