No more Excuses

Person on a BMX bike Whatever the weather, this summer's going to be a busy one for our Active Hastings team.  They're on a town-wide mission to get everyone active and they're armed with a varied programme of activities that will tempt everyone off the sofa.  Our determined Active Hastings staff will stop at nothing to get even the laziest residents involved in exercise and with activities including everything from belly dancing, fishing and frisbee, tai chi, rock climbing, archery and break-dancing, it'll be hard to stay loyal to the TV.

Busy mums are keeping off unwanted weight by taking their babies to Super Strollers in Alexandra Park.  The exercise session is tailor-made for mums with small children in prams and pushchairs and is a great way to stay in shape.

At Super Strollers sessions mums and babies go on a brisk walk through Alexandra Park with toning exercises on route.  The women and their babies both enjoy the fresh air and exercise and there's no need to find a babysitter!

There's also the opportunity to enjoy the tranquillity of Alexandra Park at Active Hastings' outdoor tai chi sessions.  Every week a friendly group gathers in the beautiful surroundings of the park to learn the elegant movements and breathing techniques of tai chi.  Tai chi is a great, relaxing form of exercise for anyone, but it can have additional benefits for older people.  The slow, precise movements help to improve balance and strength, which in turn reduces the risk of a fall.

If you're looking for a bit more action and speed, then you might like to chose one of Active Hastings' cycling session this summer.  Cycling is a fantastic form of exercise, it improves fitness and strength and can cut the risk of heart disease, diabetes and obesity.  If you're tempted to get out on two wheels you could try seafront cycling or mountain biking and if you're aged 12-19, you can put your BMX ramp skills to the test.

If you'd rather take things at your own pace and enjoy a game of bowls, putting, tennis or croquet, our first-class facilities are open now.  Challenge your friends to a game of bowls or croquet in Alexandra Park or bowls, putting and tennis at White Rock Gardens or bowls, putting and croquet at West Marina Gardens.  Play by your own rules on one of our five multi-use games areas at Alexandra Park, The Firs, The Grove and Torfield Schools or White Rock.  Join one of our organised sessions or call us to book.
