Sleeping Beauty drops in on the White Rock

Actors in front of the White Rock Theatre

The White Rock Theatre is pleased to announce Sleeping Beauty as this year's pantomime from 15 December to 6 January 2008.

The role of Fairy Sparkle has gone to Michelle Gayle who had success as a pop singer in the 1990s, with seven top 30 singles in the UK, her two biggest hits to date being Sweetness and Do You Know?

As an actress Michelle is best known for her work on British television, in particular playing Hattie Tavernier in BBC's East Enders from 1990-1993.  She also had various roles in film and theatre, which have included playing Belle in West End musical, Beauty and the Beast in 1999.  She has taken part in several celebrity based reality shows, and in June 2007 she became a panellist for ITV's topical chat show, Loose Women.

Michelle is looking forward to coming to Hastings in a few weeks' time.  She loves the sea and is going to enjoy working at the White Rock Theatre.

Jamie Wilson is an actor, director and teacher, whose most recent performing credits include Terry in 'Boogie Nights', the Scarecrow in 'The Wizard of Oz', and the Man in Sondheim's 'Marry Me a Little'.  He performed in last year' Cinderella at the White Rock Theatre and he is very happy to be back this year as he loves Hastings, the seaside and the receptive audience that Hastings brings.

Christiaan De Villiers, the new Deputy Manager at the White Rock Theatre, said:

"We are all very happy about having such talented performers on our stage.  This year's pantomime is my first one and I am really looking forward to working on it.  I used to work as a teacher and I can imagine how exciting and interesting it is going to be for our audience, especially for the children".
"We have broken the rule of never having the same star twice. However, due to popular demand, Jamie Wilson will appear again as he loves the White Rock Theatre".
