Leaders Introduction

Peter Pragnell - leader of the Council

Welcome to the winter edition of the About magazine.

This month we bring you details of your Christmas rubbish collections and our end of year accounts.  I hope you will have had the chance to see the new lights up and running in George Street, featured later in the magazine.  They make a real difference to the feel of the area and are a great safety feature as well.

In this edition we are looking at ways to stay fit and healthy during and after Christmas.  It's not a health issue as such, just letting you know what our Active Hastings team has to offer and making the most of Hastings and the surrounding areas.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't at least mention New Year's resolutions and this year I'm resolving to keep on doing my best to improve things for our town and for all of you.  As well as providing the services you need efficiently and well, my colleagues and I are planning to continue doing the things that make Hastings special, such as the ever-successful Seafood and Wine Festival.  Ours is a special town and, although we are living in more difficult times these days, we are determined not to stop striving to keep it such.

We hope you enjoy this winter edition of About. Do keep hold of a copy for your rubbish collection days over Christmas.

About returns in spring next year, but until then Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and enjoy the festivities.

Leader of Hastings Borough Council
