As we fast approach Christmas we would like to thank residents for helping us boost recycling. We know there have been teething problems and we are still working through the issues. For the most part however, you've really made the most out of the green bins and managed to significantly increase kerbside recycling volumes.
The bins have also helped us improve cleanliness across the town, in fact an independent survey conducted in October showed we had produced our best ever results. We have looked at how we can make the scheme work for as many people as possible and have been expanding our recycling service more and more. You can now recycle corrugated cardboard as part of your kerbside recycling collection. To make sure your corrugated cardboard is collected, please make sure it is broken down into small pieces before being placed in your green bin. We can also now take aerosol cans, provided they are the type made from steel, rather than aluminium.
Visit our Refuse and Recycling pages for details of Christmas and New Year collection arrangements. There are some changes to days, so make sure you know when your days are. Unfortunately, we cannot recycle your wrapping paper, but please put any unwanted, plain Christmas cards out with your recycling and we will take them away.
