Leaders Introduction

Peter Pragnell - leader of the Council

Welcome to the Summer edition of About.  As you can see we've devoted the whole magazine to recycling and other environmental issues.

Our Twin Bin scheme is well underway and you'll read all about it in this edition.  This month, you should receive your green and grey wheeled bins if you're on the scheme and your collections will begin in October.

Hopefully, you'll have a good idea how it all works now, whether you have twin bins or your old system of rubbish and recycling collection.

The feature in the centre of the magazine should address any outstanding enquiries and of course there’s also our team, who are just a phone call or e-mail away.

Read on to find out why we've introduced this way of collecting rubbish and how we've set about putting it all in place.

It's not just recycling we're talking about either; we've got it all covered, from composting to making your own recycled paper.

We've also featured the re-opening of our very own Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, which has been completely refurbished and is now ready for visitors.

You must get down to the Seafood and Wine festival this year, which promises to be even better than last year.  It's a great opportunity to showcase our local produce, from locally grown wines to Hastings fish, caught just off our coastline.

It still seems quite a long way off, even if it is September, but look out for the next edition of About in December.  This will feature our end of year accounts and details of your Christmas rubbish and recycling collections.
