Summer Stage Experience 2007: 'We Will Rock You'

Don't miss this once in a lifetime chance to get involved in this all-singing, dancing and acting experience led by professionals from the theatre industry at The White Rock Theatre.

The idea behind the show is to get as many local young people involved in a professional 'West End Quality' show.  Last year, The Wizard of Oz was staged and 148 children were instructed in dancing, singing and acting, and 14 children were taught technical theatre covering set building, lighting, sound engineering, stage management and costume.  In the shows that were staged, every aspect of the show was completed by those under 24 including the operation of all technical equipment.  There is no other opprotunity that the youth of Hastings get to be in a show of this quality and calibre, to perform on such a large stage and get the experience of professional tuition.  They gain an invaluable experience and make lots of new friends as well as developing their personal and social skills.  The increase in the confidence of some of the participants is sometimes staggering in the two weeks.

Darren Rapley, spokesperson for the theatre says:

"We try to alternate the project each year between a popular and well known show (last year it was 'The Wizard of Oz' and three years ago it was 'Annie') and a more alternative and perhaps less obvious show (2 years ago, the show was 'Barnum').
"With 'We Will Rock You' we have a show that fulfils all the criteria we have when choosing our project but also a modern show that is still running in the West End!"

The Summer Stage Experience 2007 will run from 5 August - 18 August.  To audition for this project, simply fill out an application form and bring it along with you on the 10th June to the theatre at the appropriate time - 10am for surnames A-J and 2pm for surnames K-Z.  This project is for eight - 18 year olds.

Alternatively, visit the Summer Stage Experience website and fill out an online form and find out more about the show and creative team.
